“Wallowa Lake State Park” in Joseph, Oregon - was rated: 2

This park is NOT big rig friendly. The roads are very narrow with trees limbs hanging over the roads. It was impossible to get into the park entrance, even going the wrong way, without scraping the tops and sides of our 40′ motor home. In addition, weeds were 3 feet high around the water and electric hookups, and the supposed sewer hookup was a cast iron pipe that came out of the ground and turned back down toward the ground. It was so old that our sewer connection would not screw in, and had we tried to dump, the effluent would have run backwards out on the ground. The park was extremely noisy with screaming kids (yes, I know kids scream, but not like this) and barking dogs. Staff did nothing to control either one, and in fact, when I tried to talk to 3 camp hosts sitting near their rigs, they practically ignored me. I had heard Oregon State Parks were among the best in the country, but our first visit to one certainly didn’t bear that out. The park has a pretty setting, but needs management. We won’t be back.
