$$$$$ Pleasant Surprise$$$$$
Heard a funny noise on Saturday while driving my truck. Oh, heavens! The clunk was only heard when I turned the steering wheel, not on the straightaway. Was a little afraid the noise was something major. Of course, the holiday prevented me from having it checked out. A couple neighbors offered their opinions on what was wrong! Had suggestions as to where in town I should go; not to the local shop here at Bryce. Yesterday I took the truck in to the local Car Care Center and told the mechanic what I was hearing, as the noise had gotten progressively louder each time I tried to drive. Did not go more than a mile from home over the weekend, though.About an hour after I left the truck, I had a call from the office saying that an upper front ball joint needed replacing. The mechanic had gone off on another call and I could call him back after noon for a price. Well, when I spoke to Mike, he told me $395 for part and replacement. He had to remove lower joint also. I found out that it would be advantageous to have both replaced for another $65. My question and decision. OK, parts ordered, to be repaired this morning. Fretted all night over this new expense!9:30AM- call from Bernice, truck ready to be picked up. Didn't expect repairs to be done before late day. Asked exact charge. She replied quite nonchalantly, $118. I told her she was talking to the wrong customer. […]
