“Ocala National Forest / Salt Springs Rec Area” in Salt Springs, Florida - was rated: 9

We camped here over Thanksgiving and thoroughly enjoyed this location. We stayed on site 27 and would happily take the site again as it was spacious and level. We had power problems that turned out to be a shorted 50 amp outlet on the site’s power pole, but campground personnel responded moments after our call and repaired the problem. Most of the sites offer plenty of space between you and your neighbor, but some do not. The Spring itself was closed when we were there, but they were getting ready to re-open after remodeling the area. We were allowed to explore the springs area as long as we stayed off the newly planted grass. It was absolutely beautiful. There is also a marina there where you can rent kayaks, canoes, fishing boats with motors and pontoon boats. You can swim in the designated swimming area. There is a local grocery store close by which has everything you should need. A Wal-Mart is about 23 miles away in Palatka. Cell phone reception is generally pretty bad at this campground. We are set to camp here again in January 2010.
