“Lakeshore Outdoor Resort” in Davison, Michigan - was rated: 9

This is a really nice park that is undergoing expansion. The facilities are plentiful and clean. The only, and a big, negative is the system they have for getting a site. It is a free for all. Go in, park on a site and tell them where you are. The result […]

RVer of the Month Selected for August 2008

This Month we feature Dave, Lori and pooch Cheyenne, you can find their website at The Trailer Tales. “We had talked about full time RVing casually for years. Suddenly it turned in to a hope and as of Tuesday May 13, 2008 it became a reality. Our home in Benton City, WA had sold, Dave’s […]

“Shenandoah Crossing Resort” in Gordonsville, Virginia - was rated: 5

This place was a disappointment. When I read about all the resort amenities which are available to the RV folks, it seemed quite nice. The RV spaces were very shaded, very steep and very difficult to find as there are no signs showing which sites are where. Saw several other RV’s driving […]

“Enfield / Rocky Mount KOA” in Enfield, North Carolina - was rated: 3

Forget how much Good Sam discount was. This is out in the middle of nowhere, and adequate for one night stopover off 95. No highway noise, but plan on having food for dinner. Went into next town for dinner and it is very run down and a 6 mile drive.

“North River Campground” in Shawboro, North Carolina - was rated: 8

This is a very nice setting. The owners are friendly and seem to do an excellent job of managing the park. We would definitely stay here again. The Trailer Life listing is under Shiloh.

“Oakwood RV Park” in Clear Lake, Iowa - was rated: 8

Simply a wonderful laid-back campground with the longest pull-through sites we have ever seen in 35,000 miles of camping. The pull-through sites must have been 100′ long. If you want a place to stay close to Clear Lake, this is the one!

“Red Carpet Inn and Campground” in Walnut, Iowa - was rated: 2

There isn’t much going for this place. I suppose it is somewhat better than a truck stop due to electric/water hookups (and mowed grass), but it would be a close call on spending $28 here or listening to idling trucks at a truck stop all night. (This place was worth at the most […]

“Fox Inn Campground” in Clinton, Tennessee - was rated: 2

We stopped here overnight after seeing the high rating in Trailer Life. We were shocked. It was tight for big rigs, many permanents, roads and sights were gravel and unlevel with little grass, did I mention tight for big rigs? Overall, it was exceedingly poor. Never again.

“Flagler by the Sea” in Flagler Beach, Florida - was rated: 8

I’ve stayed here several times. It is basic, no frills and a lot cheaper that all others but most of all IT’S ON THE OCEAN. They are usually booked up with Snowbirders in Jan, Feb & March. They do have 3 sites that are the most expensive, right on the ocean & […]

“Smith Point Campground” in Shirley, New York - was rated: 9

We have camped here 100 times at least. Here is the inside scoop. It…s one of very few true beach front campgrounds. If you have looked from Maine to Virginia you might be able to find a total of a dozen campgrounds that are truly beach front with full hookups. The […]
