“Assateague State Park” in Ocean City, Maryland - was rated: 9
Excellent campground in oceanside setting. Wildlife was plentiful, deer, unusual birds, and of course the Assateague ponies. We camped for two nights with electric hookups in Loop H. Sites were paved and mostly level, each with a picnic table. Clean bathhouse, dumpsters, water, and dump station were located nearby. Loop was about 75% full during our stay, but the rest of the campground seemed to be around 10%, so the beach and paved biking trail were wide open. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Just remember that the campground is situated on a “wild” island, with many animals and insects (including ticks during our stay). Also, the weather, particularly the wind, can change from good to bad in a hurry. We will definitely camp here again.
