The staff was pleasant. We chose not to use the showers after using the restrooms. We just didn’t want to face it and chose to use the RV shower instead. It would have been doable with shower shoes. The pool was small, but nice and warm. It was a welcome site in the middle of the very dry Badlands. Trees have been planted at most sites but simply struggle to grow in this environment. It was 100 degrees on this day and we were told it was mild weather because it is usually 110 to 115 this time of year. Campgroud is very close to Badlands National Park. A motel is next to the campground and the office serves meals in a small diner.

We chose to stay at this park because of the high ratings and being on the water. There had been a great deal of rain before and when we arrived; we found our reserved site flooded and muddy, with a very strong sewer odor. We were directed to another site, but found it very wet and muddy as well. We stayed one night and then moved to a park on higher ground. I am sure that the park would have been very nice if it weren’t for the weather. We would not attempt to stay here again if there has been rainy weather. The management was very understanding and refunded the site rental for the second and third days that we had reserved.

This is a fairly new park, with all paved sites and new hookup pedestals. The facilities are all modern and very clean. It has the river on one side, and unfortunately, a railroad siding on the other. The siding is not used, but is ugly as can be. The park’s website shows a large fish mural behind the office building. The mural does not exist, it is added in to the website. Instead, you see abandoned rail cars. The other unfortunate thing is that the park is new, and although the owners have planted many small trees, they are still small and offer no shade yet. It is very, very hot with no grass anywhere. Where there is not paving, there is crushed rock. The owners are super, and have planted flowers in beds everywhere they can, and eventurally, the trees will provide some shade. We would stay here again, but not in the summer months, it is just too hot.

The staff is working hard to make the park even better. The lake itself, really a river, is not attractive, with murkey brown looking water and a railroad track across the lake. But if you must stay in the Clarkston, WA/ Lewiston, ID (twin cities) area, this is a good place.

This park is NOT big rig friendly. The roads are very narrow with trees limbs hanging over the roads. It was impossible to get into the park entrance, even going the wrong way, without scraping the tops and sides of our 40′ motor home. In addition, weeds were 3 feet high around the water and electric hookups, and the supposed sewer hookup was a cast iron pipe that came out of the ground and turned back down toward the ground. It was so old that our sewer connection would not screw in, and had we tried to dump, the effluent would have run backwards out on the ground. The park was extremely noisy with screaming kids (yes, I know kids scream, but not like this) and barking dogs. Staff did nothing to control either one, and in fact, when I tried to talk to 3 camp hosts sitting near their rigs, they practically ignored me. I had heard Oregon State Parks were among the best in the country, but our first visit to one certainly didn’t bear that out. The park has a pretty setting, but needs management. We won’t be back.

This is a very large state park. The sites are long and have lots of room between most sites. Only a few of the pull thru sites were close to each other. The streets and sites are paved. The only negative is that there are very few bathrooms for the number of sites at the park and with no sewer hookups, used by most everyone, so there is sometimes a wait for a shower. There is lots of bike riding as well as lake activities. We would definitely stay here again.

This campground is listed as a Coast to Coast campground. Upon arriving, we found that it is a huge permanent site “trailer park”. The ten daily rental sites are in a gravel parking lot. We did have sewer, water, and 30 amp service, but we were unable to put out our awning or chairs, because there is only room for six campers in a line end to end. There is no room to put out awning because other campers must drive within inches of your camper to exit the parking lot which is where your camper is located. If someone is camping in front of you and you need to hook up your tow vehicle, you are out of luck unless they move their camper first. We will never return here! It is shocking that this is a Coast to Coast campground.
